Tips For First Time Home Buyers
Your first time buying a home can be very stressful, and it should not be that way! In this article we will cover some tips for buying your first home, and ways to make it a less stressful endeavor!
Set goals and expectations.
Whether you are buying a home with a friend, a partner, or by yourself, it is in your best interest to sit down a plan out your goals and expectations for purchasing a new home. Part of this can be deciding on what price point you are looking for. Price point is a major factor because as we will discuss later, your realtor will be able to hone in on homes that are realistic for you.
Figure out aspects of a home you are looking for (location, amenities, school districts, etc).
Another area you should consider are the details of what you are looking for. How many bedrooms? What city or cities would you consider living in? Any specific school districts you would like to look at or avoid?
There are many factors that people look for, and unless you are manufacturing your own home, you likely won’t get everything, but a home that closely fits your wants is super helpful!
Find a realtor you can trust.
Finding a realtor is not hard, what can be tricky is finding one that you can trust and has your best interests in mind. Talk to your friends and family about who they have worked with in the past. This will give you insight. Ask your coworkers as well, as they are likely to live in areas that you are looking to live in.
Get pre-approved for a loan.
Generally the side of buying a home that ends up taking the longest is the loan process. Having this taken care of before the home buying process begins will help you and your realtor and make sure your expectations and goals can be met.
If you have already decided on your realtor and are not sure what mortgage company to use, ask your realtor! More often than not they will have good relationships with a mortgage business! This will help streamline your process!
